Dry, hot and needing water

It probably wasn’t the most sensible thing I have done to go out training in 28C temperatures. I have come back dry, hot and needing water. Lots of water. So much water in fact, I have completely busted my target for the day on my tracker stats with just the amount of water I have had since I came back.

I had a spare couple of hours and when someone asked me if I wanted to come training, my pride did not allow me to decline the offer. 

What do they say about pride coming before a fall?

There may be more than a grain of truth in that as part of me is regretting not politely declining the invitation. In one sense I am pleased I went and achieved more than I thought I was capable of, but on the other hand, in these extreme temperatures I have come back feeling really dry.

I have consumed over two litres of water in a very short space of time and not to put too fine a point on it, what isn’t oozing from my forehead, face or arms, went through me faster than a Porsche. 🙂 A quick look down told me I was still dehydrated so I filled my water bottle up again and I’m currently drinking that.

The funny thing is, I will probably go and do it all again today, no matter how dry I feel now. It is all part of my path to a higher level of fitness, so as long as I keep the end goal in sight, I should be OK I think.

So for this evening, I am just going to kick back and relax. Try to stay cool and keep taking in fluids. With a bit of luck I should face tomorrow refreshed and raring to go again.
